School of Computing and Engineering Meet And Greet” Webinar

The School of Computing and the School of Engineering in conjunction with the Alumni Directorate hosted a virtual Meet and Greet Webinar on 10th June, 2025 to connect alumni with each other. The event aimed to foster mentorship, share industry insights, and strengthen alumni engagement. The webinar recorded a participation of 129 alumni representing various fields across the tech and engineering industries. Alongside them were several final-year students from both schools, eager to interact and gain practical advice. The event created a vibrant space for meaningful conversation and experience sharing.
During the session, alumni discussed their career journeys after graduation, offering practical insights into the challenges and opportunities they encountered. They highlighted the relevance of the academic foundation they received and how it helped them adapt in dynamic professional environments. Topics such as industry readiness, career path choices, transitioning from school to work life, and the importance of soft skills were central to these conversations.
A dedicated Q&A session allowed both alumni’s and students to ask questions directly to the one another sorting guidance on areas such as job search strategies, entrepreneurship, and staying current with technological advancements. Several alumni expressed willingness to provide continued support through informal mentoring students and follow-up communication.
Beyond mentorship, alumni also shared several innovative ideas aimed at supporting students and fostering innovation within their respective departments. These included suggestions on enhancing industry-academia collaboration, offering project-based challenges, and supporting student-led initiatives through alumni-funded startup incubators.
Overall, the event was well-received and successful and it promoted a culture of collaboration, inspired students with real-world stories, and encouraged ongoing engagement between graduates and their alma mater. Future plans include organizing similar sessions regularly and exploring opportunities for structured mentorship and networking initiatives.
