My name is Virginiah Kiunga Kinankau Musawa. It is with great excitement and a deep sense of responsibility that I introduce myself as the new Director of Alumni Relations at Mount Kenya University. As I step into this role, I am eager to collaborate with each of you in building an even more vibrant and engaged alumni community.
Our alumni are the heart of our institution’s legacy, and your achievements, insights, and contributions reflect the enduring strength of Mount Kenya University. I firmly believe that a thriving alumni network is built on strong, meaningful relationships, and it is my top priority to foster these connections. Whether you’ve recently graduated or are a long-standing member of our alumni family (celebrating silver jubilee), your voice, experiences, and perspectives are invaluable as we look to the future of endless possibilities together.
My vision for our alumni community is one of rich engagement, where each of you can connect, share, and contribute in ways that are meaningful to you. From networking opportunities, mentorship programs, and professional development, to social gatherings and volunteer initiatives, I intend to create diverse avenues for involvement, ensuring that your connection to MKU remains strong and fulfilling. We will build this under 3E’s namely Engage, Empower, Example.
But none of this can happen without you. My approach will be to listen closely to your ideas, needs, and feedback. Together, we can co-create an alumni experience that reflects the shared values and aspirations of our diverse community. I am committed to building relationships based on trust, collaboration, and a shared passion for your success and that of our alma mater.
In the coming weeks, I will be reaching out to many of you to better understand how we can enhance our alumni relations and how you would like to Engaged, be Empowered and/or be an Example. Whether you’re interested in mentoring students, attending events, or simply staying connected, I want to ensure that our alumni programs provide value to you in meaningful ways.
